How do you become a Professional Angler?
Wouldn’t it be cool if you could fish for a living? I think so. I think it’s every anglers dream to do what they love and get paid for it. I did some research and thought long and hard. This is what you and I can do (or try to do) to make money fishing:
1) Tournament Angler – With cash prizes as high as $500,000 for some tournaments, this is definitely something to try. Not only do you win cash, in some tournaments you win trucks, boats, ATVs, and other fishing related products. The catch is: You have to win! Usually there are prizes for the top few spots, so you don’t have to come in first to get something. Of course, there is the chance that you leave empty handed. The key here is skill (or luck) if you want to win. If you consistently win top spots, companies will want to sponsor you and that’s where the real money is.
2) Fishing Guide – Maybe not as glamorous as being a tournament angler, but you can make a living out of it. This is a business so you have to invest your money and time before you can enjoy the financial benefits. Being a fishing guide definably takes skill. If you don’t know what you’re doing then you can’t provide your clients with a quality fishing experience. If you know the hot spots, the best lures, the best techniques, AND you can provide one heck of a good time, the clients will come to you and so will the money.
There are other ways you can make money in the sport fishing industry, but these are the only ones I can think of where you would actually be on the water fishing.
